The Winemakers
Faraday Ridge Shiraz is made by local legend Matt Hunter, whose Langanook wines have had considerable success at international wine shows. Matt is a winemaker whose first priority is to let the lovely fruit flavours of the Faraday area shine through the wine. He has a philosophy of minimal handling and intervention and uses the best of the traditional winemaking techniques combined with meticulous control of the winemaking process. He uses high quality fine grained oak barriques – predominantly French, but with some American for added complexity.
Faraday Ridge Chardonnay is made by Bendigo winemaker Wes Vine of Mandurang Valley. Wes has a background in Science and Agricultural Science and has been making wine at Mandurang Valley for 23 years. Wes strives to make clean wines where concentrated fruit flavors have priority and uses wild yeasts for added complexity in some of his wines. Ben Canaider in the Wine Regions of Victoria booklet observed "Wes Vine's careful, thoughtful wine making lets the lovely fruit qualities of the wines speak intelligently and rewardingly”.
